Gunmen have forcefully kidnapped Hon. Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai, the Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, during the late hours of Friday.
According to reports, Yakasai, who previously served as the Chairman of Soba Local Government Area in the state, was taken from his residence in Yakasai village under duress.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kaduna State, Mohammed Lawal Shehu, has stated that the Governor issued a directive to the security forces to pursue the abductors and ensure the safe release of Yakasai.
Through an official statement conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Shehu, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all individuals residing in the state.
The statement further highlighted that as a part of the comprehensive strategy to enhance security in Kaduna, the government is in the process of recruiting 7,000 vigilantes to collaborate with the existing security agencies in their efforts.
