Authorities Seize Weapons from Gangs Causing Havoc in Warri and Surrounding Areas

Assorted weaponry has been successfully retrieved by the Delta Police Command from suspected criminals who have been causing turmoil in the Warri area and its surroundings.

According to DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, this significant development was made public on Monday in Warri.

Edafe went on to reveal that a dedicated pursuit of the escaping suspects has been initiated by the police force.

The weapons in question were successfully retrieved on Wednesday by the vigilant surveillance unit of the Ekpan Police Division, a result of credible intelligence.

Edafe further noted that the operation, aimed at the apprehension of the criminals, was led by CSP Aliyu Shaba, the Divisional Police Officer, along with his surveillance team.

The hideout of the suspects, according to the police spokesperson, was pinpointed at the Aladja Grammar School within the Udu Local Government Area of the state.

He explained, “Following credible intelligence gathered concerning the activities of certain criminals operating within the domains of Warri, Udu, Koko, and neighboring areas, CSP Shaba took charge of the surveillance team. They diligently trailed the criminals to their hideout situated at Aladja Grammar School within the Udu Local Government.”

“Upon detecting the presence of law enforcement, the criminals rapidly fled the scene. Swift action was taken to meticulously search the vicinity, leading to the discovery of a bag,” he stated.

Among the items retrieved from the bag were: an AK-47 rifle, accompanied by a magazine containing seven rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Additional items included: an English pump-action shotgun, containing three live cartridges, as well as two double-barrel sawed-off shotguns.

Edafe underscored the ongoing efforts to both identify and apprehend these criminals, emphasizing the dedication of the police force in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
