An unidentified suspected armed robber met a fatal end while trying to carry out a robbery on a resident known as Victor in the Olugboso area of Agege, Lagos State.
According to reports from PUNCH Metro on Sunday, the incident took place on August 20. The suspect forcibly entered Victor’s apartment at midnight, brandishing a toy gun, and attempted to steal his belongings.
However, Victor quickly realized that the gun was fake and decided to confront the robber. A physical altercation ensued, during which the armed criminal pulled out a pair of scissors from his pocket and stabbed Victor.
The commotion caused by the struggle drew the attention of other tenants in the building, who rushed to the scene to intervene. Despite being wounded, Victor was eventually rescued from the clutches of the attacker, who had inflicted serious injuries on him.
A resident, speaking anonymously due to the sensitive nature of the incident, provided details. “The incident occurred around 1:30 am. Other occupants of the building heard the sounds of a struggle and traced it to Victor’s room. They managed to save him. He had been stabbed in the neck, chest, and parts of his face. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.”
Subsequent witnesses who gathered outside the scene took matters into their own hands. They confronted the suspect and subjected him to a severe beating, resulting in his demise from the injuries inflicted upon him by the enraged crowd.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the occurrence. “The incident indeed transpired. A toy gun and a pair of scissors were discovered on the suspect. The deceased’s body has been placed in the morgue. The victim received medical treatment and is currently recovering. An investigation is in progress,” he stated.
