Deputy Senate President Grants Scholarships to 628 Students at BUK

Senator Barau Jibrin, representing Kano North and serving as the Deputy President of the Senate, has taken a commendable step by awarding scholarships to 628 students from his Kano North Senatorial District who are enrolled at Bayero University Kano (BUK). Each of the chosen students received a scholarship of N50,000.

The initiative, as disclosed by Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, is not limited to BUK alone. The scholarship program is set to extend its benefits to all students hailing from the Kano North Senatorial District who are pursuing higher education across various tertiary institutions in the nation.

The launch of this scheme took place at BUK’s School of Continuing Education, marked by an event graced by Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, the Chief of Staff to the Deputy President of the Senate. During the launch, Professor Abdullahi reiterated that Senator Barau Jibrin’s intent was to provide vital support to his constituents, aiding them in their pursuit of higher education across different institutions in the country.

“This scholarship scheme was formulated to empower undergraduates from Kano North Senatorial District. Courtesy of Senator Barau Jibrin, each student will be granted N50,000. Furthermore, this isn’t exclusive to BUK; all students from Kano North studying in Nigerian institutions will have access to this initiative. This isn’t the first instance of such generosity – Senator Jibrin has consistently offered comparable assistance to farmers and other members of society,” Professor Abdullahi conveyed.

He urged the beneficiaries of this scholarship to grasp the opportunity and dedicate themselves to their studies, aiming for excellence in their academic pursuits.

Adama Iliyasu Rabiu, a fourth-year student who is among the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “We deeply appreciate this gesture. With this scholarship, I can proceed with my registration. My heartfelt thanks to Senator Barau Jibrin for this invaluable backing. May he be rewarded by the grace of Allah.”

Shamsuddeen Usman, another beneficiary who is currently in his third year, shared, “I have received the N50,000 scholarship. As a third-year student, I face yearly struggles to cover my tuition fees. We are truly thankful for his assistance.”

Senator Barau Jibrin’s dedication to promoting education and facilitating the aspirations of his constituents through initiatives like these is undoubtedly commendable and will have a positive impact on the academic journeys of these deserving students.
