Finally! EFCC Releases Obiano

Relief finally for the former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, who according to information reaching us right now has
been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes commission days after being kept in custody.

Obiano as we all know who was infamously arrested hours after handing over to his successor and new governor of Anambra state
Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Thursday at the Murtala
Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his alleged departure to the United States.

On Wednesday, according to the disclosure made by the chairman of the commission, the anti-graft agency granted the former governor administrative bail, while waiting for him to fulfil his bail conditions which ultimately has now been fulfilled.

As part of his bail condition, the EFCC also withheld his
passport to restrict him from moving out of the country anytime soon pending trying.

As we have earlier mentioned, Obiano was in custody of the commission over the alleged misappropriation of N42 billion belonging to the State.

“Obiano was arrested for alleged misappropriation of public
funds, including, N5 billion Sure-P and N37 billion security
vote which was withdrawn in cash. Part of the funds was also
allegedly diverted to finance political activities in the state,”
Head of Media and Publicity of the EFFC, Wilson Uwujaren,
mentioned after the arrest of the former governor of Anambra state

While in custody, a leaked video of Obiano in shorts drinking
water while seated made rounds on the Internet which didn’t go well with members of the public as they condemned such an act.

Addressing the issue, the EFCC said it had identified its operative who made and published the video which has already surfaced the internet and have sanctioned them.
