Governor Umahi Wins Case In Appeal Court

In the latest turn of events in this new development, An Appeal Court situated in Enugu on today being Friday dismissed the petition seeking the removal of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State alongside his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, from office over their defection.

The petition which requested Umahi’s removal from office as a result of him defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the opposition party which is the All Progressives Congress,
APC.

It is Worthy to note that this lawsuit was filed in by the APC governorship candidate in the 2019 election, Senator Soni Ogbuoji alongside his running mate, Justin Mbam.

Recently, an Abuja High Court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo has given the ordeal of sacking Umahi, Igwe alongside 17 lawmakers in the state for dumping
the PDP to the APC.

But as of today, the lawsuit has been dismissed by a High Court citing reasons of the suits being inconsistent with the cconstitution and extant laws of the country.
