In a series of determined operations to eliminate the lingering presence of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in Borno and surrounding regions, the diligent efforts of the 144 Battalion have yielded significant results with the successful liberation of 25 hostages from the clutches of the BHT group.
Working in collaboration with a Hybrid Force, the courageous troops executed a successful rescue mission, liberating 14 hostages from captivity in the Gobara village situated within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno state. This operation took place on Saturday.
The Director of Army Public Relations revealed, “Among the rescued individuals are 6 women and 8 children.”
In a comparable operation conducted on Sunday, the combined forces of the 82 Task Force Battalion and the Hybrid Force carried out a raid on a BHT hideout situated in Gava Village, also within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. As a result of this mission, 11 civilians were successfully freed from captivity.
All individuals who were rescued are presently under the care of the troops and are undergoing a thorough profiling process.
In a distinct operation on the same Sunday, a Boko Haram Terrorist family consisting of seven members willingly surrendered themselves to the 81 Division Task Force Battalion in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State. This family comprised of three adults and four children.
Additionally, a separate operation targeting criminal elements took place on Sunday in Kaduna State. The troops of the 2 Battalion acted upon reliable information and successfully eliminated one criminal while simultaneously rescuing four kidnap victims in Kwana Shehu Village, situated within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The rescued individuals have since been joyously reunited with their respective families.
