Leicester City’s midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, appears to be on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest as he actively seeks a transfer.
Emerging reports on Monday indicated that Nottingham Forest has expressed a keen interest in securing Ndidi. According to Leicester Mercury, Steve Cooper’s team is poised to initiate a bid to acquire the services of the Nigerian international.
Furthermore, the report suggests that the player’s personal terms have already been agreed upon in anticipation of a potential transfer.
Ndidi is among the group of Leicester City players who have only one year remaining on their contracts with the club.
The 26-year-old player has had an enduring association with the club since his arrival from Genk in January 2017. He quickly became a mainstay in the team, but of late, he has encountered difficulties in recapturing his best form, coinciding with City’s unfortunate relegation in the previous season.
Throughout the ongoing season, the midfielder has managed to secure a spot in the starting lineup for all five matches across various competitions. He notably found the back of the net during the Carabao Cup victory against Burton Albion.
However, his role has taken a different dimension under the stewardship of the newly appointed manager, Enzo Maresca. In addition, his position on the team sheet is under fierce contention from Cesare Casadei, a loaned talent from Chelsea. This situation has sparked conversations among the club’s supporters, with some advocating for the young Casadei to take precedence in the starting lineup.
Having amassed a total of 242 appearances for City, the midfielder has contributed significantly with 12 goals and 12 assists. This impressive tally encompasses his participation in various prestigious tournaments such as the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League. Notably, he was a crucial part of the City squad that clinched their first-ever FA Cup victory.
