The Lagos State Police Command has officially launched a 13-member special investigative team with the aim of delving into the enigmatic demise of the Nigerian artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, who was more commonly known as Mohbad.
Lagos State Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, emphasized the jurisdiction’s unique collaboration with INTERPOL while making an important announcement on Monday. He declared, “Let it be known that we possess distinctive access to INTERPOL’s resources. Every individual connected to the unfortunate demise of Mohbad will be identified, and they will face scrutiny to establish their degree of involvement.”
Last week, The PUNCH reported the tragic passing of Mohbad, a former artist under the Marlian Records label, owned by Azeez Faashola, popularly known as Naira Marley. The talented artist left this world at the tender age of 27.
Naira Marley, deeply mourning the loss of Mohbad, went beyond the boundaries of a professional relationship and expressed his profound grief. He declared, “Mohbad was not merely an artist or a signee; he was a brother and a dear friend to me.” These words were conveyed through a heartfelt statement he personally signed on behalf of the Marlian Record label last Friday night.
“From the very beginning, we recognized that Mohbad was a formidable force to be reckoned with. His music infused love and light into the lives of countless people. Mohbad moved us all with his soulful lyrics, captivating storytelling, infectious smile, and boundless energy. The news of his untimely departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts,” a portion of the statement poignantly read.
Naira Marley also posted a poignant video of the late singer on his Instagram handle, captioning it with, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Rest in perfect peace, my broski 💡 🕊. I’m heartbroken 💔💔 #Imole’sWorld💡. You will remain in our hearts eternally, bro.”
