Security Chiefs, Defence Bashir Magashi and the IGP Fails To Honour Reps Invitation

The Houe of Reps has expressed it’s disgust over the disrespect shown by the Minister of Defence Bashir Magashi and the IGP who failed to honor their invitation by not showing up at the chambers.

As a result of this development, The deputy speaker of the lower house, Idris Wase, declined to meetwith representatives sent by the service chiefs for a briefing regarding issues of the Kaduna-Abuja train attack.

The House has expressed his disgust over the refusal of the security chiefs to honour their invitation in regards to holding discussion about securities issues.

Speaking on the issue, the deputy speaker of Idriswase has this to say “no matter the enormity of the assignment the security
heads are handling, they owe the parliament a briefing on the bomb attack which is now an issue of national concern”.

He further went on to note that “it appears that lawmakers are being considered jokers, but that they are not such”.

“We do not have any doubt regarding your capacity and your role. As operational officers, you have the intel in terms of what has to be done,But I’m constrained as the deputy speaker to continue the meeting because the accounting officers are the ones that are supposed to behere while you give them the necessary support.”

“I am saying with a heavy heart. No matter the assignment our generals are handling, I believe the parliament requires a listening ear”.
