Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has made a request for well-wishers to avoid erecting congratulatory billboards in his honor.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press at the Office of the Minister, it was emphasized that while Mr. Wike deeply appreciates the warm wishes and support from citizens, he kindly urges the discontinuation of such billboards and advertisements.
The Minister acknowledges the outpouring of goodwill from FCT residents and beyond, understanding the sentiment behind these congratulatory displays and expressing genuine gratitude for the support shown.
However, aligning with his commitment to public service and his responsibilities, Mr. Wike wishes to direct his full attention towards assisting President Bola Tinubu in realizing his vision and renewed hope agenda for Nigeria.
Ogunleye highlighted that Wike’s primary duty lies in contributing to the development and growth of the FCT, prioritizing the well-being of residents and the nation at large.
He further stressed that the Minister holds in high esteem the aspirations and expectations of FCT residents, remaining steadfastly dedicated to fulfilling his role with sincerity and dedication.
According to Ogunleye, this dedication can be best achieved by focusing all efforts on the task at hand and collaborating with fellow public servants to serve the country to the best of their abilities.
Wike sincerely hopes for understanding from the public regarding his perspective and anticipates their continued support and cooperation.
The Minister looks forward to working closely with all stakeholders to build a more prosperous, united, and stronger FCT and Nigeria, as stated by the director.
